August 7, 2019 A new state law makes it clear that it’s illegal for a contractor or roofer to waive an insurance deductible. “This new law will help further protect consumers,” said Texas Insurance Commissioner Kent Sullivan. “Roofers who waive deductibles are cutting corners. Take your business elsewhere.” Under the new law effective September 1, violators could get up to a $2,000 fine and up to six months in jail.
