The Executive Board and RCAT PAC supporting guests were honored to meet with Texas Governor Greg Abbott for a discussion about the roofing industry and our continued efforts to improve it with effective legislation. GOVERNMENT IS RUN BY THOSE WHO SHOW UP! WHAT IS A POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEE (PAC)? PACs are voluntary, non-partisan committees that allow individuals with common interests to pool their resources in order to contribute to and support candidates who share their values and advocate for their policy interests. Every major association relevant in state politics has a robust PAC and is active in the political process. More information can be found here: WHY DOES RCAT PAC AND OUR POLITICAL ADVOCACY MATTER? The RCAT PAC is our seat at the table with legislators to help ensure future policies support the roofing industry and our members. In 2019, the RCAT PAC helped to pass two bills important to our members and in 2021 we worked to raise awareness on deductible reform and roofer registration, both of which we plan to continue to work on in the 2023 legislative session. HOW CAN YOU HELP RCAT PAC? By donating to the RCAT PAC, your dollars enable RCAT to support legislators on both sides of the aisle who share our association's values, understand the importance of our industry, and who want to build a strong business climate in Texas. AS RCAT PAC GROWS IN STRENGTH, THE VOICE OF THE ROOFING INDUSTRY GROWS WITH IT! It is critical all RCAT members be invested in RCAT PAC at some level. We encourage you to contribute whatever amount you believe is appropriate, whether it is $25 or $5,000. Contributions to RCAT PAC must be from personal funds as state and federal law prohibits political action committees from accepting corporate contributions. When you donate to the RCAT PAC, you can be sure that your dollars are being used efficiently and effectively. We prioritize dollars in the most efficient ways to advance our legislative goals and use them to keep a consistent, visible presence at the Capitol in order to bolster RCAT's reputation and vocalize our positions on the issues that matter most to members. We fully leverage every dollar our members generously provide, so you can be sure your donation is making a difference.
