How We Help Our Members Grow Their Businesses Join us and instantly gain a network of Texas’ top roofing professionals. If you are unsure of how an RCAT membership will directly help your roofing company thrive, read this blog! When we started RCAT in 1975, we had one goal: to uplift the Texas roofing industry. Since then, our membership has swelled in response to the growth of our industry, but our values have stayed the same. At RCAT, by constantly innovating and improving the roofing industry at large, we also help each individual member succeed in their career. If you want to learn how joining RCAT can elevate your roofing business to the next level, this blog is for you! Our Mission: To Help You Win Let’s talk about what it means to support our fellow roofers. At RCAT, we take a multipronged approach to supporting our member's success in the industry. This strategy includes: Continued education Technical research Government Relations Public relations Trade-specific consultations As you can see, we take a holistic approach to enacting change in our industry. To better illustrate how we put these ideas into action, let’s discuss how these strategies directly play out to benefit our members. Grow Your Industry Network In an industry as tight-knit as the Texas Roofing Industry, having ample space to build industry-specific relationships is essential for growth. When you join RCAT, you instantly get access to a wide variety of events designed to sharpen your skills while learning from the best. The epitome of this is the Texas Roofing Conference. Each year, the leading-industry professionals descend upon the Expo floor to share their hard-earned roofing wisdom. Here, our members can network with industry titans, listen to established leaders speak and dispense knowledge, and just talk with people they wouldn’t normally encounter. More importantly, this event focuses not only on roofers but the industry at large! At each conference, you will have the chance to build relationships with: Commercial Contractors Residential Contractors Architects Suppliers Remodelers Consultants And more! Attending our conference gives you access to knowledge and conversations that the public simply doesn’t have access to. To learn more about the conference, click here. Establish Your Company’s Reputation As you are well aware, the state of Texas has ZERO guidelines, licenses, registrations, or coverage requirements for roofing contractors. Because of this, our industry often has a public image for below-the-board practices that range from price-gouging and storm-chasing to downright fraud. At RCAT, we work tirelessly to rehabilitate the public image of the roofing industry! For our members, this means getting licensed by RCAT. Our licensing process is vigorous, impartial and tells a potential client that you are a verifiably trustworthy contractor. An RCAT license comes with a whole suite of benefits for our members. Our members benefit from being on our searchable contractor directory, representing vast lead-generation opportunities. Simply put, when a consumer uses our search bar to find a trusted contractor in their area, your business will pop up in their results. Beyond the lead-generating benefits of membership, becoming licensed by RCAT will also allow you to use our logo next to your business’ logo. This is an instant stamp of quality for your business and will help a potential customer decide to work with your company. Regional Networking Opportunities While we touched on the large-scale networking opportunities RCAT brings its members, we want to circle back to the more frequent and local chances our members have! Within RCAT, six regional chapters cater to distinct markets in Texas. Currently, we have these active chapters: Abilene Area(AARCA) Central Texas(CTRCA) Houston Area(HARCA) Lubbock Area(LARCA) North Texas(NTRCA) Texas Panhandle(TPRCA) One of the networking events our regional chapters host are “Lunch & Learns.” These Lunch & Learns are monthly meet-ups where members update each other on the news in the local roofing scene, discuss new trends in roofing, and share knowledge. Click here to learn more about the Lunch & Learns in your area. Beyond the Lunch & Learns, each regional chapter has events tailored to its own market. Here, our members have the chance to network with not only industry leaders, but industry leaders in their own communities. Community Outreach As we mentioned earlier, RCAT not only works to serve the fellow roofing community, but also our community at large. Of course, we are a roofing & waterproofing-focused organization, and thus our outreach centers on our industry. Because of this, we created Safe Roofs Over Texas, an initiative dedicated to informing the public about the warning signs of roofing fraud, how it harms them, and how they can decipher a trustworthy roofer from a below-the-board one. While our primary mission with this initiative is to prevent our neighbors from falling victim to fraud, this outreach also benefits our RCAT members. Our initiative has gotten attention from major news outlets, with The Dallas Morning News and Fox 34 covering our campaign. This drives attention to honest roofers and shines a positive light on RCAT members. By being impartial and unafraid to speak about the darker side of our industry, we have positioned ourselves(and our members) as a go-to source for reliable roofing services. Scholarship Programs To end this blog, we want to highlight how we take care of our own members beyond helping their careers. At RCAT, continuing education does not only extend to our member’s roofing expertise but also their children’s future! That is why we created the Annie Born/Jan P Thomas Scholarship, which supports RCAT’s members whose children are working on their undergrad. How it works is simple: if your business is a member of RCAT(and in good standing), anyone in your organization is eligible to apply. Whether it be the secretary, a salesman, or even the foreman, if you are part of an RCAT-affiliated roofing business, you can apply for a scholarship for your children(or step-children). The scholarship is for $5,000, and we give out three of them each year! At RCAT, we support not only our industry’s growth, but the growth of the next generation of Texans. Learn more about the scholarship here. (HURRY! The deadline is June 16th, so you still have time to apply!) Join Us Today! At RCAT, we are not an exclusive club; if you are a reliable roofer in Texas, we want you to be a part of our organization. We firmly believe that by supporting each other, we support the roofing industry at large. If you want to make friends, network with your peers, and learn from the best of the best, join us!
